This book addresses mutualism and some of the many animal partnerships. It explains the partnerships and the benefits each animal receives in easy to understand ways for elementary readers. The drawings are very realistic and help readers gain an understanding as they read. There are many pairings discussed in this book from a coyote and badger to a hippopotamus and African helmeted turtle. I think if this book were to be read aloud in its entirety, it could be overwhelming as there are many pairings discussed. However, I do think this could be a good resource to use to introduce students to the idea of mutualism and relationships if some animal pairings were read aloud and discussed. This book is very "busy" so it might be hard for younger students to follow along without a lot of scaffolding. This book could possibly work as a read aloud, or maybe even something that is read one page a day. This book talks about things such as unusual partnerships with different animals, animals sense of smell and hearing, and also talks quite a bit about sea life. It also talks about defense mechanisms, etc. Overall fun book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
