Well another December, 1st today! So lets spill the beans.

How many books are you going to read in 2011?

I stay with this year's goal of 110 book.

Julia

I surpassed my goal of 100 this year, so I think I'll try for 150. I may have to put bookshelves in the attic, but I think its worth it.

I managed to pull off my goal of 145 just a couple days (amonth to spare) but it has been rally tough to do, so I am sticking to 150 for next year.

I'm going to say 125 for next year.

dec 8, 2010, 10:20 am

I've got 66 books planned for my 11 in 11 group challenge so I'll use that figure as my goal here. At the rate I've been going the last few months I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it but I do plan to get a good start with the "Nothing but Read Day" in January :-)

7Samantha_kathy
dec 8, 2010, 3:47 pm

I'm going to try (again) for 50 books. The past few years I've managed about 30 books a year, but then, the last few years have been kind of crazy, so not much time for reading.

8amsparky
dec 27, 2010, 3:51 pm

It's so neat to see people who read more than me - my family thinks I am crazy for how much I read. LOL

This year I should hit 58, so next year's goal is 60. Between teaching, writing and family, this will be a challenge!

dec 28, 2010, 9:51 am

I made my goal of 100 books this year and nearly made it to 125, but I think I'm going to reduce my goal to 75 for next year. It was just a little bit too crazy for me this year with so much reading, and next year is going to be even more hectic so I'm not sure if I'll have as much time to read. So, I'm going for 75, that's my answer, and I'm sticking to it! LOL!

10digthis
dec 31, 2010, 11:50 pm

My goal is 100. It'll be only the third year I've kept track and I seem to read more when there's a list and my 'To Be Read' piles are big! I read 51 in 2009 and 92 in 2010 where twelve were on the Top 100 List by AAR. My favorite was Diana Gabaldon Outlander.

11Samantha_kathy

My goal this year is 50 books. I read 25 books this year, so my aim is to double this.

jan 4, 2011, 1:30 pm

WOW, I wish I could get in 100 books a year!
Last year I got in about 65, this year I'm thinking less because the hubby will be home all year. So I'll say 50 and hope for more, lol

13jenniandtony
jan 5, 2011, 2:28 pm

As much as I'd like to say I'm going to read 110 books, I'm one of those people who really savors a good book. At the very least, I'll read 24 books this year. That's an easy goal of two a month. Although I'm hoping to make it to 48 this year.

14roseysweetpea
jan 7, 2011, 6:41 pm

I'm gonna say 25 but my true aim is 50. I haven't read 50 books in one year since 2008 where I finally kept a New Years resolution to log all the books I've read in a journal documenting title, author, pages in book, and the start and end date of my reading. It was a great idea because I'm one of those people that reads a book, loves it, and then forgets the title and who wrote it. So this is the year to hit 50 again (I hope).

I just finished a book and don't think I will get another one in before the end of the month and who knows if my internet connection will cooperate later, so I will go ahead a post my January books a little early .....

I am hoping to read at least 10 romance books this year. Would love to read more but I never know how my feel for romance will be.

20Jenson_AKA_DL
feb 3, 2011, 10:18 am

I'm off to an exceptionally slow start this year having read only four books (2 romances, one sci-fi romance one gay/action/adventure romance) in January:

Ghost Country by Patrick Lee (Early Review book)
Moongazer by Marianne Macussi(sp)
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Zero at the Bone by Jane Seville

Hmmm...touchstones just don't seem to be working today.

21DianeYu
feb 3, 2011, 4:19 pm

When it comes to my books, I'm not much of a goal setter. Last year's count was over 200, but that can be attributed to no day job and an empty nest plus my exploration of e-books last year - many of them bad and/or very short. I've learned to be more discerning now, I hope.

January reads:

For 1001 list- Memoirs of a Geisha, Story of O and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

Historical Romance - Rivals for the Crown, Unconquered and The Devil Wears Plaid

Erotic Romance ebooks - The Cowboy Poet, A Princely Gift, Sting of Desire by Lilli Feisty Deviations: Submission, Deviations: Domination, Deviations: Discipline Deviations: Bondage (all Deviations books by Chris Owen

Contemporary Romance - Romeo, Romeo

I read 10 books in January, a bunch of them by Jo Beverley, and will probably have to pick up the pace if I want to meet my 175 goal.

1. The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry
2. The Fortune Hunter by Jo Beverley
3. Deirdre and Don Juan by Jo Beverley
4. Lord of My Heart by Jo Beverley
5. The Dragon's Bride by Jo Beverley
6. Dark Champion by Jo Beverley
7. My Dangerous Duke by Gaelen Foley
8. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
9. Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
10.The Riddle of Amish Culture by Donald B. Kraybill

Looks like Touchstone only half working!!

I'm aiming for 50 in a year. Started at a random time in July, due to having the summer off i managed to get in a lot more reading. So far i'm sticking to it and managing to get through 1-2 per week. I think i may get through more than 50 - but as its my first book challenge i thought i would start low :)

Happy Ever After was very enjoyable. Predictable since the other books in the series hinted at the upcoming relationship but I really liked it, as I do almost all of Nora's books. If you like her books, I think you will like this one.

>47 onyx95: Onyx95, I really enjoyed the Weather Warden books (Rachel Caine), although I haven't quite gotten to the most recent release or any of the offshoots. Do you think you'll be pursuing more of the series?

In June I only read two books:

18. Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu
19. Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling

Tales of Beedle the Bard was a really quick read and I enjoyed it. It was kind of liked a small Grimm's Fairytales anthology, some parts were a little dark, but not too scary.

I remember watching 24 for the first few episodes when it first came out. Very intense!

Crazy last couple months generally. Was in a car accident and totaled my car near the end of August, took almost a month to get the insurance money and just picked up my new car Monday only to have the "check engine" come on halfway home and discovering a couple other issues. Today it is back with the person I bought it from who is supposed to fix everything (hopefully). The upside is that neither my son or I were hurt in the accident.

Lots of other things always seem to be going on as well that take time away from reading, along with being so distracting that when I do read it is only a couple pages at a time.

All that aside, Fallen from Grace was an interesting read and I did enjoy it. It is not very often you have male prostitutes as leading men in romance novels.

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted here! Um, to catch up I've read a total of seven books in September to November...

26. Steelhands
27. Ghost Story
28. A Study in Scarlet
29. Seduce Me in Dreams
30. GhosTV
31. Me Talk Pretty One Day
31. Wildcat Fireflies

Looks like I might have one more to add to the list for December, but I'm way off what my goals were. Life has just really been overwhelming this past year, lots of bad, but quite a bit of good too, so I don't want to complaint too much.

If I don't get back here this month I hope everyone has peaceful holidays and a wonderful New Year!
