Robert C. O'Brien (1) (1918–1973)

Reread in 2024. My current tendency towards nostalgia rereads continues. I first read this book as a very young teenager and despite the many hundreds of books I was reading at the time and have read since, it has always stuck with me.
Luckily the suck fairy did not visit and I loved my reread. The creeping sense of menace, the narrator's sense of entrapment which she refuses to accept. I now know why this story has stuck with me for 45 years.

This was cute and enjoyable. I did think the flashback part was too long, though.

A book I enjoyed tremendously as a child, but probably haven't read in thirty years or so; I got a copy to give to my nephew so I had to give it a reread first. O'Brien's story holds up well indeed, and remains excellent all these years later.

This book is appropriate for intermediate readers.
This book is about Mrs. Frisby's journey to protect her children and how Rats of NIMH are able to help her.
This book would be useful in teaching about story elements.
