The Confessions of St. Augustine is the collection of St. Augustine's thirteen autobiographical books, each singly known as Confessions. In these books he details his sinful youth, his conversion to Christianity, and the regrets he thereafter lives with of his previous convictions and action. It is an incredibly important work, both as the theological study of his thought processes and development and also as a minute historical account from the 4th and 5th centuries.
2below: For anyone interested in exploring spiritual autobiographies, C. S. Lewis' is worth checking out. Unlike Augustine, who covers the entire span of his life from birth to his conversion in adulthood, Lewis focuses on his childhood and young adult years and how his experiences during this time shaped the development of his spiritual life as he got older. I found Lewis' book a much quicker read than Augustine's, though both are very good.… (meer)

Geen regeling voor het probleem van het kwaad. Qua intellectueel is hij wel de eerste die in de buurt van Plato en Aristoteles komt, maar om een heel andere manier. Vooral literair wel onderdoend.
